Baltic Birch Laser Engraved Wood Map - 20" x 12"

Marking my first foray into professional-grade laser engraving, wooden maps are exceptionally detailed works of art. The actual creation of the maps - the burning part - is actually fairly simple, but the real work is done in the pre-burning design process.

I carefully map every roadway and waterway/body of water into separate layers and modify different aspects of each map to ensure that none of the finest details are lost in the burning process.

Once the design is completed, the pristine baltic birch layers are placed into a $25,000 industrial-grade laser and etched line-by-line over 40 to 55 minutes. Then the layers are sanded, cleaned, glued, and outfitted with hanging hardware.
